Gigabyte UD3 Socket 775 help

Thread Starter
So I picked up a ultra durable 3 socket 775 motherboard with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 processor for twenty bucks. The motherboard has a damaged pin on the landing grid array socket.

Is there any hope to fix this easily ? Its not worth paying to have it fixed since I have no idea whether its good or not.

On another note there is the processor, I tested it in a dell optiplex 760 (this machine shipped with a core 2 duo) but it would not post, this leads me to believe that the Q9650 may also be dead. Any thoughts?

It looks as if you have 4 bent pins... You could always get a pair of small nose needle nose pliers and pull the pins back into place... but that might break it farther.

use a ball point pen with the ink part taken out. If you can slide it over the pins it works good for straightening them back out

Thanks for all the responses so far. I will give it a shot as far as fixing the pins go. Now what about the Q9650 how often to processors break? I tested it in a Dell Optiplex 760 which shipped with a Core 2 Duo, I couldn't even get a video signal out of it so I assumed it wasn't posting. Could it be that the BIOS were incompatible with the Q9650?
