The Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1250 will do the trick nicely. I have it installed in my HTPC and it is a good card. I can also vouch that it will work well with linux - the only thing to consider is that if you are recording from one channel you cant switch and watch another when recording, You may want to invest in a card that can record 2+ channels if you want to record one channel and watch another. Otherwise it is a decent card.

Rep is this helps, thanks

i don't plan on recording any channel, maybe some xbox game session but rly not a priority, just a nice +.

What about the antenna? is it good do i need to put it right beside a window or it could be on my desk??

Will prob have to put that antenna close to a window. I use a Mohu Leaf Paper-Thin Indoor HDTV Antenna and it works very well
