Adding a sub to Swan D1010-IV for laptop

Thread Starter
So, to elaborate a little bit, I am planning on purchasing the Swan D1010-IV 2.0 speaker system. Down the line I would really like to add a subwoofer into the system, but since I am going to be using it with my laptop 99% of the time, which only has 1 audio jack for headphones/speakers, will it still be possible to add a subwoofer into the system and have everything connect alright? Also, I was hoping to get some advice on a subwoofer that would compliment these speakers well. Any suggestions are welcome. I will be mainly using the system for all genres of music, ranging from indie and alternative rock, to acoustic folk, to electronic dance music, to rap, and anything and everything in between (besides country *shudder*). I will also use it for gaming every now and then, but I have headphones for that. Down the line, I wouldn't mind spending around $80 for a good sub to add into the system. Thanks again for the help.

There are quite a few cheapo sub options around $100. You could split the signal and use an RCA adapter to connect the sub. This isn't an ideal scenario and you wouldn't have crossover control of the Swan speakers. This means the sub frequencies may overlap with the woofers on the Swans. You'd have to unplug that setup and plug in headphones when you wanted to swap.

Hmm perhaps get a sub with both low level in and out? I think the Dayton SUB-100 might just be one

Thanks for the replies! I appreciate the input. At this point I'm still not 100% sure I want a sub, but I was just wondering if it was possible, given my circumstances. Does anyone have experience with the Swan D1010-IV?

Edit: As far as a solution, would something like this be worth it? http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Adapter-External-Digital-ICUSBAUDIO7D/dp/B002LM0U2S/ref=sr_1_38?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1371130567&sr=1-38&keywords=usb+audio

Never heard of that brand, but there are a million different USB DACs in all price ranges.
