as explained in this guide:
Nvidia INF driver modding (Guide)

these are what you are looking to add to the C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\XXX.XX\Win8_WinVista_Win7_64\English\Display.Driver\nv_disp.inf

[Manufacturer] <---- you don't need to worry about this or the entry just below - it is the section stating its the Nvidia driver for Vista, Win7 and 8 x64!
%NVIDIA_A% = NVIDIA_SetA_Devices,NTamd64.6.0,NTamd64.6.1,NTamd64.6.2

[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.0] <---- this is for the Vista x64 section

%NVIDIA_DEV.1184% = Section022, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1184 <--- This is for Vista

[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.1] <---- this is for the Win7 x64 section

%NVIDIA_DEV.1184% = Section066, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1184 <--- This is for Win7 x64

[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.2] <---- this is for the Win 8 x64 section

%NVIDIA_DEV.1184% = Section067, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1184 <--- This is for Win8 x64

[STRINGS] <---- this is for all three OSs to name your device

NVIDIA_DEV.1184 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770" <--- The Name

i went through drivers 320.18 (that was release before the 770 was added) 320.00 and 314.07 and the four NVIDIA_DEV.1184 entries were the only differences from the 320.18 that was released after the 770 was added.

download the driver of your choice. when you first attempt to install, it will fail the compatible hardware check. go edit the inf file that will be there after the extractor runs before the hardware compatibility check.and run it again. win8 users may need to disable driver protection but i doubt it. however i cannot confirm that nor do i have a 770 but i have modded inf files for quadro drivers to use for fun.

OR you can just simply copy/paste the nv_dispi.inf file from the 320.18 directory folder to whatever driver you download but, where is the fun in that??? smile.gif

its here if you are concerned about the 320.18 drivers and feel the need to change.

that is all . .

EDIT: the mod works fine.

No probs. Just tried 314.22 and works fine. But fan speeds not same as newer drivers for the 770. 20% idle vs 34% and 48% vs 60% load. But shouldnt be a problem, older driver actually keeps the card cooler at load. Ran 3dmark 11 got 10075 for 314.22 vs 10,255 for 320.18. Will go back to 320.18 as I usually stick with latest drivers.
