getting Access to C$ on LAN PC

Thread Starter
Hi,

I was wondering what is required if I want to get access to one of my PC's over LAN without actually sharing the folder.

I want to get full permissions to C:\ and D:\ on my main computer, from my laptop, but when I go to \\"main pc hostname"\C$, I do get a login prompt, but when typing the computers name as domain and type in the user and password I use for that computer, I get access denied.

I have gotten through at work on a client computer using my AD administrator user (my normal user gives access denied), but not sure what to do at home as I dont run with a Domain there.

Yeah I think it related to active directory. If you don't have a DC at home you can not do that.

I would setup SFTP. Offers authentication, and encryption.
Also isn't too hard to setup on Filezilla Server.
