Gearbox isn't having the best of luck. After being sued in a class action lawsuit for the quality of Aliens: Colonial Marines, the Texas studio is now getting sued by 3D Realms over alleged unpaid royalties for Duke Nukem Forever.

The original developer of Duke Nukem Forever - a game infamous for being in development hell for over fourteen years, just to remind you - is seeking more than $2 million for the missing cash, and claims that Gearbox had blocked independent auditing of the royalties 3D Realms earned over the 2010 acquisition of the project.

After what you did to gaming, Gearbox. You deserve to go bust.
Go 3D Realms! wheee.gif

What an abomination DNF was. So much potential down the drain.

You do realize that Gearbox had almost nothing to do with how DNF turned out right? They simply bought the assets that 3dRelams had and tried to salvage it as best they could. The game was something like 80% complete when GB got it. You wanna blame somebody, blame 3dRealms for taking 13 years to make a crap game that they couldn't manage to get out.

What about Borderlands people seems to like that series? Halo? I'm not saying they haven't done bad things but, they have also done some good things to. Maybe they aren't PURE evil?

I was one of those guys waiting the 14 years lol. I haven't picked up the game though, from reviews I just don't see myself playing a disappointment. Let's let the Duke pass away at DN3D and forever be a legend of the early years of PC gaming.

Randy Pitchford is a compulsive liar and a scumbag. And he did it all while staring us in the face with Aliens: CM.

Any company that would promote and hail this man as their leader is NOT to be trusted or felt sorry for.

I couldn't agree more. I was really hyped for DN:F and it wasn't -totally- bad but it wasn't the fun game that DN:3D was. A:CM was another thing that was completely crappy. Especially since we all suspect the money went into Borderlands 2 which, lets be honest, isn't all that different from Borderlands 1.

I hope the company goes under. I really couldn't care less what happens to the staff. It needs to be dismantled, buried and Pitchford to "Dissapear" into a gamers basement. .. then we need to go after the bigger companies jerry.gif

Lets not forget gearbox had put most of their A:CM budget into another company who they hired to make them game.

I'd like to see Gearbox turn their reputation around and go back to making quality games.

"What Gearbox did to gaming"? That is the most sensationalist thing I've ever heard.

I didn't look at previews of A:CM before it came out. I didn't care about it cause Aliens games in general are all mediocre at best. I expected no different from this. Even the movies were bland. I did research everything that happened post-launch, though. Yes, it's disappointing that they toned down the visuals/physics etc. However, did they ever promise you that you were looking at the final product during that demo? No. Just throwing that out there. Let me guess: going to sue them because you didn't like the ending, too? (ala: Mass Effect 3). They may have had a major faux pas with A:CM, but saying "what they did to gaming" is just ridiculous, asinine and sensationalist.

"What they did to gaming" was make my 2012 game of the year, Borderlands 2. As far as DNF goes, and it being an "abomination". Sigh...this generation is nonsensical. I loved DNF. I love it cause I knew what I was getting when I bought it. I was getting a game that was in development hell for X amount of years, and was polished and released just for the sake of being able to get released. That’s ALL it was. They NEVER promised a game up to modern standards. It was a great Duke Nukem game. All these people scoring and reviewing it...sorry, you're doing it wrong.

The fact that you're all cheering about a company that kept your game away for 14 years rather than the company that actually got it published and has given us some amazing games (borderlands 1 & 2 are indisputably awesome) makes me incredibly sad, I mean we all have games we'd rather had never happened *cough* Halo 4 *cough* but at least they gave you the attempt instead of leaving it in limbo indefinitely
