~$25 PCI Sound Card (worth it?) - Page 2

How about the DGX? Is it much better than the DG? Or is just the PCI-E that distinguishes it?

How about a $40-50 sound card recommendation? I'll look for a amazon warehouse deal.

I personally would go with the DG/DGX for now and upgrade to a more better setup later when needed. If you're sticking with the 595s for a while you don't need a lot to power them and the DG/DGX would be enough. There is no difference between the DG and DGX aside from one being PCI and another being PCI express which would be personal choice or if your motherboard supports it. I myself plan to get a better sound card when I do an overhaul maybe next year so I opted for the PCI version. If you want to keep that setup for a while and don't want to hassle with another new card then the DGX (for the pcie) or DSX.

It's just PCI-E. My new motherboard does not have PCI slots on it... I don't recommend buying anything using PCI, it'll be useless on your next PC upgrade.

Think I'm gonna pick up a Xonar DG for $19 from amaozn. I read about facing PCI out, but I don't think it's gonna be for a long time. I'll update my sound card in 5 years.

Like I said, my new motherboard doesn't have a PCI slot. It's not a big deal if you're just getting a cheap card anyways I guess though.

You'll be happy with it. I've been using a Xonar DG for a few years now. It's much better than onboard sound.

The only difference between a DG and a DGX is that the DG is a PCI card and the DGX is a PCI-Express. The hardware is identical otherwise and performs the same.
