[TE] Xbox One Surprises Witcher Dev, Skips Poland At Launch - Page 5

Does it mean Sony didn't want people to have the PS3 in those other countries? Or was there just a delay in getting things up and running?

Just because XBL for XBO may not be available in November 13 for some countries, does not mean it won't be available a month, or even a few months after.

I also can't wait for people to realise that PS4 will not be available everywhere (probably including their own countries not yet supported by XBO) at launch.

Since the Xone requires users to connect, everyone within those non-supported countries are literally locked out from using the entire machine. In the case of the PS3, even if it was launched in certain countries, people could atleast attempt to import the console from a neighboring supported country to use it. It is easy to sit back and say, "What's the big deal?" when our countries are supported, but Microsoft with their policies and their region-lock at launch ignores and alienates a large consumer base in nations such as Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, and Singapore. Half of the European Union is not even supported and consumers have no chance to import the device from others within the Union.

Your last couple of sentences holds pure speculation and even if the PS4 will not be launched everywhere, atleast consumers can import and use the device without waiting for Microsoft to transform it from being a useless brick.

There is a difference between straight up ignoring someone and not being able to give them attention until a certain time. Especially when it comes to something as huge as a console launch.

There is also a difference between speculation and common sense.

It is quite obvious that not being available at launch is not the exact same thing as permanent non availability.

In the exact same way that most of Europe could only buy a PS3 until five months after the console launched.

In the exact same way that PS4 will not be available everywhere at launch. And yes, people can attempt to import, but even then that's a comparatively tiny number of people. There will be people/countries left out at PlayStation 4's launch.

Sony have already stated that they aren't sure they'll be able to match demand for their console, yet the whole world seems to be dead sure that they will have a PS4 at launch rolleyes.gif

The next irony/hypocrisy is that after people come back to reality and realise that not everybody will have access to either console for months, even years, not a single peep of noise will be made about people being "ignored" and "alienated", because all of the countries they care about will have been serviced. Yet you'll sit there and type about how its easy to say "what's the big deal" when it doesn't affect you or your personal feelings. Ha.

Where was all this crying about console manufacturers "ignoring" countries when many Asian lands still didn't have PS3s available till 2010? "But they can import them". Well its easy for you to say "what's the big deal" isn't it?

Again, what is with the carrying on as if not being supported now means never, ever being supported? Is it because people assume it just takes the push of a button?

If the headline was "Poland/Singapore/Bulgaria will not be supported, end of", then okay. I'd say that was directly ignoring and alienating people.

However, the headline is "XBO will not have support in Poland/Singapore/Bulgaria at launch", meaning that support can be added any time after launch. Be it a week, month or more. We don't even have confirmation if the console will even be readily available in all of those countries at launch in the first place.

No support indefinitely is ignoring.

No support till they can add it, is not ignoring.

Meh. I can't wait till maybe this time next year when internet zerg swarm whining fuelled by media is likely once again proven wrong by reality and all the sheep with pitchforks get tired of running.

You know you're probably right.

MS aren't supporting them at launch and having a smaller potential install base for their console, because they want a smaller install base and don't want to sell their product.

Its literally as simple as that. No other reasons at all.

If only they were as smart as you, right?

Both consoles are reportedly having yield issues from AMD. You can expect shortages of both.

And furthermore, if the 360 is supported in a country there should be no reason the one isn't. The infrastructure is in place for the 360 then its also in place for the one.

Except the infrastructure is completely different between the two.

You know, the very reason why you're complaining right now?

Its a validation server. You are telling me the current X360 servers can't handle a simple home call to allow their systems to stay online?

Doesn't sound right to me.
