Can a HDD thats 6.0 GB/s be used in a 3.0 GB/s SATA connection?

Thread Starter
I am just trying to figure out how much of a performance loss will I receive when I plug a WD Blue 500 GB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0GB/s into a 3.0 GB/s slot. Is this a big concern or not anything major.
Thanks for the input!

It won't be maxing the 3.0Gb/s port, so there won't be any difference.

SATA III = 6Gb/s and SATA II = 3Gb/s.

6Gb/s = 750MB/s. 3Gb/s = 375MB/s. Your HDD can't hit 375MB/s so no bottleneck there. Those speeds are for SSD's that hit 550MB/s

Zero performance loss. No HDD can push out data anywhere near that fast. When it comes to HDD's, high SATA speeds are nothing but marketing jargon.
