worst 4770k in the world - Page 2

it's not even safe to run haswell at 1.4v+ on air cooling, or so I've heard/read everywhere.

Just out of curiosity, does your chip run stable at stock speed with BIOS on Auto? I'm wondering if your chip would be stable at any speed without the BSOD. Could be damage due to overvoltage during the OC attempts as well.

What cooling solution are you using?

who said anything about air cooling I have h100i, and I understand that, your not listening to me, I SAID IT ISNT STRABLE at 1.2 to 1.4 I went all the way up to that just to try and see how much it would take to even boot.

Yes it does to be honest auto is the only way to keep it stable on my bios, stock only any sign of overclock by a mhz i get bsod. I tried on auto and voltage goes up to 1.4 , ill take screen show, THIS IS ON STOCK SETTINGS. TEMPS ARE FINE, just cant believe voltage is that messed up.

See if you can send it back and swap for another core. Could be you just got a marginal CPU, the things are only tested at stock speed by Intel - just because it's unlocked doesn't guarantee it will go any faster than stock clocks. If your replacement comes in and it's brick walled at stock speed, at least you know it's not the chip and something in your settings or the MB itself.

I had 3 2600K's that were almost consecutively serial numbered, from the same facility, SL spec, factory, and date of manufacture. Two would hit 4.4 comfortably and one wouldn't go past 4.0, on the same exact motherboard and settings. Chips happen. LOL.

Please post temperature readings on any stable setting you can boot, thermal paste used, delid or not, and batch number

Being combative/rude isn't a very good way to get people to help you. oneeyedsmiley.png

I'm not going to be much help since I don't have a Haswell chip, but I've read that it isn't as easy as SB or IB. That said, my 3570k took me 3 days of tweaking to get stable (that included a memory OC). It's not always as straight forward (read: easy) as you may think from the reviews you read.

Yeah im not arguing about that, I am returning it, I was ranting that I cant even overclock slightly on a K series cpu, that is never been seen to my knowledge.

Im sorry im upset, no one is saying overclocking is easy enter values and tada, I understand to the fullest extend haswell is very different and there are many settings to consider, I have followed a tutorial in depth and even tried settings from here. My CPU will NOT overclock at all, and im returning it, dont you think if I cant even boot into windows and get bsod something isn't right or stable with my settings. Gee maybe more vcore somewhere, Ive tried my best to boot into windows all the way from 4.0 ghz to 4.6, nothing boots except on stock. Could be my bios sucks who knows at this point.

I've tried 1.45 and I can boot into windows. Maybe my chip really is horrid.
