Media keys opening search instead?

post #1 of 3
Thread Starter
I have the strangest problem with my CM Storm QuickFire Pro - when I turn on the Fn key and try to use the media buttons, Windows 7 decides to open a search box instead. In Chrome, they all select the address bar. headscratch.gif

Edit: More test results
Fn Key off;
*All keys work as expected.

Fn Key on:
*F1-F4 works as expected
*F5-F11 (media keys) all open a search box in Windows 7.
*F12 works as expected
*Full N Key works as if Fn is not on (as Del)
*6N works as if Fn is not on (as Ins)
*USB Polling keys (8ms, 4ms, 2ms, 1ms) works as if Fn is not on (as regular number pad keys)

Installed Drivers for the keyboard? I know it sounds ridiculous but some keyboards need them. If yours doesn't need drivers, try re-programming the Media Keys to function as they should.

Funny thing is, as far as I can tell, there aren't drivers for this. It seems that Cooler Master simply does not provide drivers.

Edit: Upon farther inspection, I've found out that the NKRO and polling rate keys aren't working at all either. They don't light up.

Edit 2: For future reference, it turns out the keyboard is defective. I'm sending it in for RMA.
