both signed and contacted them, hope we get into this very soon!
I've been mining on a cheap HD5870 i bought without a fan for $50, and in the last 3-4 months it made me earn about thrice the money! loving the idea of bitcoins. i havent cashed them out (yet) because making a dedicated miner takes more than $200 and i dont have the extra cash lying around to do that.

Isn't the coin mining system sorta broken due to all the people making commercial rigs, sometimes in the 10s of thousands of $ range? I hear that is why the difficulty on Bitcoins went way up, and it pretty much pushed all the small guys using regular PCs out of the game.

I tried bitcoining on my old rig, which had crossfire 6970s, and I only made about .01 bit coins per day. And that wouldn't even cover my electric bill. Also, bit coining was torturing my GPUs. What makes litecoins any different? Do they give a better profit ratio?

If I was to hypothetically take a rig with an I5 2500k and crossfire 6970s could you actually make money mining litecoins?

Someone needs to make a coin system that makes it more difficult for the ones using huge commercial rigs. Coin mining outta be something you do on the side to make a few extra bucks, and not a full time job. Those people should get a real job and quit being lazy and greedy while making the game harder for the small guy just looking to make a few bucks on the side. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah with bitcoin mining there are ASICS systems coming out specifically made for mining Bitcoins. But this is to promote litecoins. Currently GPU's are the only thing worth mining Litecoins on.

That is good news, so Litecoins are what people with normal PCs can actually mine?

Any idea what sort of margins I can get mining litecoins with lets say crossfire 7970s? My electric bill runs $120/month tops, even if I left a PC on 24/7. But profits on litecoins would also have to pay for wear and tear on my PC, and future upgrades. If I could make $350/month I'd consider that worthwhile.

Will they be watercooled? There's a lot of heat when mining. If you can keep your cards as cool as possible, they can last a long time under load. And you won't be putting extra juice into the cards for litecoin mining.

Go to coinwarz.com and plug in hash rates, power, electricity cost, and click calculate profitability. I think you can get 600 Khps easily on any 7970 card. I get 700 on mine and I've read some folks have gotten up to 750. So safe bet would be 1200 on yours.

As for power use, I use the amount just the card would draw under load which is about 250W for me. That was at 1.25v though. I'm actually only using 1.188v now.

The weird thing about litecoin mining is that you actually try to get the most memory speed you can and then set your core speed to 57% of the memory speed and in some cases lower your voltage. Sadly lowering the voltage for me did not help.
