Dead Space 3 Crash / SSD Disappears / Computer Hangs

Thread Starter
So I just started playing Dead Space 3 after downloading it from Origin. I've noticed that about an hour or so into the game, it will bug out in so much as that I can try to open a door and it will "call" the door forever or I won't be able to advance. Most of the time I'm able to move around but interacting with the environment is no longer possible. Trying to save and exit causes the game to crash and the screen to go black.

Killing the game from Task Manager, I try to open the game again and no dice. Often, something will go wrong enough to mess with the SSD the game is on and the SSD, drive and everything disappears. Can't scan for it in Device Manager and doesn't come up in Disk Management. Trying to shut down the PC after a game crash has the entire OS hanging on the "Shutting Down..." WIN 7 screen. I usually have to hold down the power button to actually kill it all. Powering back on I usually can't find the SSD still. I have to shut down AGAIN, this time it usually shuts down and power back on before the SSD is "seen" again.

I have a OC'd i5-2500K to 4.5 but it's under water and registering no heat issues during game or under load with Prime95. It has to be the game as I just played through an entire Witcher 2 game, which taxes my system much more than a flimsy Dead Space game and I had no crashes, no errors and no ssd disappearing acts.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

I have seen this happen before on a buddies computer when files are corrupt - the OS will hang and you will get the loading icon on your mouse cursor. I fixed it by deleteing everything from the game ( including the saves, or at least put them somewhere else out of the games path ) and reninstalling the game with a clean path and save files.

Have you run any type of diagnostic on your SSD? I had a very similar problem when an external backup drive started dying on me. Random hangs and freezes, drive not recognized by Windows, etc.
