I have 16GB and I don't think I've ever seen it used fully, except when I work on high resolution RAWs. But even then it's probably only caching excessive amounts of data.
In real life you're not likely to see a difference.

And, 7970 Vapor-X GHZ ed is a solid choice.
I use 7950 Vapor-X overclocked to more or less 7970 GHz clocks and game at 2560x1440. I'd buy it again, and by the time I'll need to put a second one in, I hope AMD will be done with fixing Crossfire wink.gif.

Im buying a second one when the Watch Dogs, BF4, and Unannounced Game Never Settle Bundle hit.

Hey guys! Thanks for all the advice in here. I ended up ordering a new card tonight and I didn't end up getting the Vapor-X model. It jumped back up in price almost a $80.00 just this week , which made it about $90.00 more than this one I picked up >> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202008 . It was only $10.00 more.....so i decided to go with the cheaper one which seems to be almost the exact same card as the Vapor-X.

It'll have some OC'ing done so I'll take advantage of that. Holy crap!.....can't believe I'm finally going to get a descent gaming rig put together after being out of this stuff for 7+yrs! YeeHaww!

Good choice, from what I have read on the 7950 version the regular 2 fan version has better temps that the vapor x. Not positive on the 7970 but either way it is a great card, enjoy.

Thanks John! Man I'm really looking forward to this. I haven't been able to play much of anything in a long time. In fact , the last full games I have been able to play was Doom 3 , Half life 2 , Farcry 1 and a little bit of Grid 1 on a lower resolution. I'm seriously behind. My work will start to slow down in the fall so I'm going to set myself up to do a lot of playing this next winter. Should be fun.

You did good. It uses the same PCB as the Vapor-X and it's been proven that both Dual-X and Vapor-X coolers are equally efficient.
