There are even some games out right now that have a slight favoritism for the 8350 and other games favor the i7 over the i5.

Right now, there is little reason to get anything more than an i5, but with new graphics engines, higher resolution screens, the possibility of completely new hardware (new sata inferface or something like that), and the general uncertainty of the industry, there is no way a PC can officially last 2 years let alone 5.

The smartest option is try to build the best bang for buck PC now and build it so that it can max out your games currently, and then be prepared to build a new one later on down the road.
This is correct on USA and Europe, but in my country is like a Oddisey, terrible expensive manage to buy components for a high end Pc since i have to ship everything from USA. then if i get this computer to last 2 years it also 5 or more smile.gif see how old is my current rig and is not because i have not the dollars. Upgrade is something i can do, but not buy a completly new hardware every year that's my dilema rigthnow.

But also is truth that when my hipotetical 4770K won't be enough to maxout video games, mostly will be other tecnologys that force me to buy new Pc, I dont know for example DX12 or DX13, i get your point. No reason to get Hexa core.

So the choice is beteween 3770K, 4770K, 3570K and 4670K.

Mmmmmm in that case is it possible to wait for ivy bridge extreme? In this case you might be better off going all out nuts on your rig and pray that it lasts.

I have a 3930k and I would go easily for a 3770k or 4770k if it was purely for gaming.

Ivy bridge E IMO won't be a hugh upgrade over current SB-E, they even share the same motherboard, so not point to wait for IB-E, i only goin to get a more expensive IB-E instead, i still can get an SB-E wich is a trusted technology.

The question is would an 4770K be an bottleneck for forexpample 3 GTX 780?

again, I would lean towards the 8MB L3 models for, as stated above, hyperthreading, aswell as, the 8MB L3 cache. you will get a noticeable improvement, again as stated above, in certain games/situations from the big daddy chip either from the HT, bigger L3, or both. otherwise the chips are identical.

rigth, then 4770K will be the CPU .

To give you example, I use 120Hz screen and play BF3 with mostly low settings to get almost constant 120fps. I was pretty CPU limited in some maps, especially with 64-players. I upgraded from 2500K to 2600K for cheap; +10 minimum fps in Gulf Of Oman map (the most CPU hungry map in the game) thumb.gif

In best case scenario HT gives 30% more performance, it isn't as good as real core but still helps significantly sometimes. Since you are buying from Amazon there's not a lot of price difference between 3770K and 4770K, might as well go with newest tech. 4770K sucks if you want very high overclocks but 4,2-4,6 GHz is pretty easy to get even with air. Overclocked i7 Haswell is plenty for 780 SLI.

A lot of people will say that HT doesn't make difference in any game, my experience and some reviews say otherwise. It's your choice but I would forget i5 models since you want to use this computer for several years. Blast from the past: when Q6600, the first affordable quad core, was released people said that it's waste for gaming. I bought it anyway. Then GTA IV and BF BC2 came. Even highly overclocked dual cores really struggled with those games. I chose wisely and didn't have performance problems.
my e8400 wasnt holding me back in bfbc2 but it sure did in bf3 lol.

I was reading other posts, and people seems not to be totally sure about to prefer 4770K vs 3770k, actually i dont see any reason to don't build an 3770K system which is cheaper and better temps/oc. While the reason " You can't be wrong buying last tech" is not enough, certenly Fresh brandnew technology always bring troubles, 3770K had been on streets for a while and i suposse any issues had been fixed. Actually i wanted 2600K but is out of stock those days.

However i have been reading something about Z78 motherboards supporting future processors, and been able to manage 16X/16X Sli CF (which is what im intend SLI or Tri SLI GTX 780). Sorry i don't understand too much about this, is why i ask on this excelent forum.

regarding 3770k vs 4770k for gaming performance they are going to be almost the same, haswell is slightly better 10% more power (theoretically) but you don't see performance gain in most games. they will be the same. so most of the savings is on the motherboard because haswell mobos are expensive.

16x/16x sli is important if your card actually saturates pcie 3.0 x16 which it probably doesn't. I don't know much more than you do, but i will try to come back here with an answer later this weekend if no one else comes up with anything.
