It's not a proven process. Apparently they're having severe issues getting stable chips higher than 1.4Ghz.

But going back to price and target demographics, it's relatively easier to convince an undecided gamer between a PS4 and an Xbox One than to convince someone who plays Nintendo games, they are on a class of their own. Many games for the PS4 and Xbox One are the same, but that can't be said about the Wii U. Nintendo gamers would feel lost, decidedly not at home with an Xbox One.

So on the one hand you have casual gamers who want casual fun for cheap, and on the other you have Nintendo gamers who buy their consoles for the exclusive first party games you don't find on the other two consoles.

Somehow it really does seem like Microsot is trying the impossible.

Mario and Zelda aren't what won the Wii. While the Wii actually sold exceptionally well, it had very low games-per-console stats compared to very high games-per-console for the 360. MS is trying to get both high units sold and high games-per-console. Kinect Sports and Wii Fit are what caused the Wii's dominance, and M$ thinks they have an answer to that.

They're trying the impossible, but they're the one horse in the race with the finances to do it.

My gut wants to agree with the people that are calling this a prank, but MS has made soooo many poor decisions lately I can't dismiss it completely.

I disagree, M$ has a lot more exclusives in more varied genres and variety wins the casual market. Only exclusive Sony has announced that's on the same level as Halo 5, Titanfall, and Forza is The Order: 1886 imo. If KH3 and MGS5 hadn't gone multiplatform, I'd give it to Sony. But they did, and those are two staples of their exclusives lineup that they no longer have.

I don't think Planetside can compete on consoles since it's separate servers from PC meaning population will be a huge issue, and I really don't think Killzone can hold up launching alongside COD:Ghosts.

Yes.
We don't know much about the new IPs MS has, and it depends on that and how many of the new IPs are also on PC.

And Infamous? (Arguably) Final Fantasy? Gran Turismo? Killzone? LittleBigPlanet? Ratchet and Clank? The Last of Us? Uncharted? Yakuza? Sony has more variety than MS in exclusives and if the gamers (ie. 90% of the market for these exclusives) are picking the PS4 over the Xbox One then they'll get a lot of 3rd party exclusives too, which is where MS' strong point was this generation because they had the most sales for so long.

Infamous (meh was alright, some people rave about it. but hell I really liked mass effect 1 yet some people didn't)
Gran Turismo (A Once great franchise, but one word "Forza")
LittleBigPlanet (A pretty decent game, I liked it, but not something I would really rave about as steller)
Ratchet and Clank (A game series I more then loved on the PS2, have the newer ones on my ps3 and they really never pulled me in like I hoped. They should ether stop messing up the good memories I had of the series or get their act together)
Last of Us (simply amazing game, sadly we have to play it on a ps3 with that damn controller)
Uncharted (My Fav PS exclusive, I love the story of the first and the game mechanics of the second)
God of War (My Second Fav PS exclusive, game is great. Hoping RYSE turns out like this game)
Killzone (People play this? lol jokes aside is only a OK game. Some may like it but it will never be a halo or cod)

Though for day one exclusive Sony will lacking, for the entire first year is seems sony will be lacking.
People don't want to wait 2 years for good games to come out.
We have no idea what Games will be coming to PS4 and if those PS3 IP's will be continued on the PS4 or not. Think about how many ps2 games kept on going on the ps3.
We have no Idea that type of exclusives MS might be bring to the table as well.

At the end of the day it is what the users want anyway.
Though the games MS was showing off at E3 were more compelling to me then the ones sony showed off. KH3 was a major blow for the early lineup to me at least, having that multiplatform is better for the normal user though.

Launch is probably the biggest amount of people buying at once, but plenty of people wait.

I'm talking announced. Final Fantasy XV is on Xbox One as well, FFXIV is a re-release that's also on PC.

360 and PS3 have almost identical sales numbers (72m to 70m). And while yes, if the PS4 launches better it'll be incentive for developers, but on the Xbox One the incentives for developers is the profit-per-sale.

They're not huge markets tbqh. Console piracy is part of the norm in Asia, excluding it isn't really surprising to me.

Especially if they're going to have shortages at launch, the games-per-console is very low in every excluded country except Japan.

Japan might have a higher gamer per capital than some of the countries they are not launching in, but if you factor in how bad the Xbox 360 did there last gen then Japans market is actually a lot smaller. The way I see it is that Microsoft knows that the Japanese will not put up with all the DRM that's being shoved down everyone who buys an Xbone.

The only reason I see that you've so defensive when it comes to the Xbone when not even Microsoft has tried to appease the masses is because you've got a lot to lose and so does your employer. I'm pretty sure that if you were given the choice to choose from the Xbone model vs the PS4 model you'd choose the Xbone model without even flinching an eye, why? Because the Microsoft model is pro developers and NOT pro consumer.

How do you know? Neither Microsoft or the other companies involved in this matter can disclose that information because it would be illegal to do so without the permission of the government. And unless you work for the NSA you really can't comment on this.

I'm not saying that this really is what Microsoft is doing nor will I deny it because we'll pretty much never know how far this program extends unless the NSA is forced to give out all of the information on the PRISM program, and we all know how unlikely that is.

Let them come out and straighten everything out, until then all you say are rumors and nothing else.

And the cloud computing diarrhea that is being spewed at the moment, where they say that you can process graphics and lightning and blah blah blah has been proven false already by a bunch of websites, bandwidth and latency will keep this from happening. If you need any of the links were they show that you can't do what Microsoft is claiming with the Cloud computing, I'll be more than happy to provide them.

No its not impossible to have a great game with low replay value, the problem is that developers and publishers expect to have the same revenue from this type of games as they get from multiplayer centric games and anything not close to millions and millions of dollars in revenue are consider a failure, look at Tomb Raider among others.

Single player games are dying because developers and publishers expect heaven and earth in revenue from any single player game, be it ****ty or not, read above.

Ok I'll give you that the dlc that comes out later on in a games life might have been developed after the game released, but stuff like dlc that you get for preordering games, or dlc that releases day one has definitely been removed from the game to be added as an incentive to preorder.

All in all, Microsoft has taken a dump on consumers and they expect people to play along, and from what you've seen here and 95% of the internet people are not willing to put up with it.
