Cooler Horizontal or Vertical mount?

Hi All,

I'm running a Corsair 500R with fans everywhere -

2 - 140mm Top Panel Exhaust
1 - 140mm Rear Exhaust

1 - 200mm Side Panel Intake (stock)
2 - 120mm Front Panel Intake (stock)
2 - 120mm Drive Cage Fans pulling air towards the rear
1 - 120mm bottom intake (mulling the possibility of this)

I have an NH-U12S which can either be mounted vertically or horizontally - not sure which is better for the CPU and for the PC components in general.

I'm running a 4770K and will most likely overclock a little on stock voltage.

Any input greatly appreciated smile.gif

PS No problems with RAM clearance in either configuration.

Most people orientate towards the rear exhaust. Alternatively you could orientate to it exhausts up to the top exhaust fans. Try it both ways and see it it makes an appreciable difference to temps.

If you want to make a bigger difference then I would ensure that you have plenty of airflow coming into the case and its not obstructed.

I had to run my Tuniq on my last motherboard pointing either with the fans blowing up or down. I saw zero difference in temps over the normal way of pointing the air towards the rear fan.

Thanks. Might just go conventional vertically oriented with the fan facing the rear exhaust..
