APU's for mining

Thread Starter
Since the processor has 8670 built it would it be possible to mine through the Igpu as well? Thinking about setting up 5x 7850 on an APU board and curious if I can get an extra miles worth with the built in GPU.

Yes, it's possible to mine on an AMD APU; the IGP should look just like any other GPU/OCL device to drivers and programs.

It's not going to give you much of a boost though.

I think an APU gets around 70MH/s, not great but for the power consumption it seems actually pretty good though.

But if you OC those 7850's, you'd be looking at around 1.3 GH/s total from everything. thumb.gif

I've run cgminer and used the gpu built into the 5600K I have. I have been able to hit between 85-90KH/s for scrypt mining (like litedoin or digitalcoin) and about 70MH/s for sha256 mining (bitcoin terracoin). From my killawatt rating it uses about 35 watts from the wall to run the igpu. I would imagine I I tried overclocking the igpu farther and ran my system ram at a higher frequency, I might be able to squeeze out 100 or more KH/s.
