Nothing unexpected. With the conservative IPC gains over IB-e, they only had one choice: more cores. We will be in the era of 8 cores in the mainstream media anyway: gaming consoles having 8 cores (although we all know they are not really equivalent to desktop CPUs) and Steamroller with improved performance, it all adds up nicely for Intel.

Wait a minute, that "Up to 40" PCie 3.0 lanes is a bit odd, not to mention it will supposedly only allow for 3x8 instead if 4x8 like SB-e and IB-e allow.Edited by tpi2007 - 6/15/13 at 4:23pm
