People have to remember, this wasn't their plan from the beginning. They are (slowly) reversing major anti-consumer policies to cope with the negative press, this is nothing more than damage control. Keep in mind their initial goal was full-on mega DRM to begin with.
I agree. I'm trying to err on the side of " they got some real bright guys doing all the talking / sarcasm" . I'm sure somewhere hidden in the halls are a bunch of nerds who really wanted to put a lot of great ideas into this and got beat down by marketing. You know what I mean?
They will need to really strike deals with cable providers but if they can secure some major deals the likes of which GoogleTV was never able to get, then the media features will be awesome. DVR functionality and VOD are the major hurdles atm. And the least likely but equally rewarding if they can turn it around is the digital distrubution ideas. Stuff like steam sales would do alot to reverse a bunch of this hate.
Not sticking up for them at all just saying the amount of fuming is beginning to cloud up real discussion lately (and their every tweet sure aint helping em)
