My friend with a FX8120 at 4.6 can't. He often dips below 100 like you. He have the exactly same GFX like me.

So it's CPU bottleneck..

On ULTRA we get almost same FPS tho.
I guess you're one of those Metro or CQB only players, because I guarantee you aren't getting such FPS in big vehicle maps with 64p.

Other than that I agree. I don't see how a constant 120fps min is feasible on BF3 even with a 5Ghz i7-3970X,even on low settings. You are bound to get fps drops in huge 64 player maps ,no way around it. An Fx-8350@4.5 will be an improvement but won't give you what you need.

Wrong.

Lower res or low settings = CPU

High res or ultra high settings with High AA = Gpu

If you want to try it lower your res you will see your gpu will go down and your cpu up.

I've tried and tested.Again and again and again and again, on multiple machines/configurations. In modern DX11 gaming especially, higher settings/resolution actually stress the cpu more because of multithreaded rendering etc. Reduce the settings and the cpu load is reduced accordingly. People sometimes think that if they turn the settings all low and the resolution to something silly like 640x480 their cpu usage will spike. Nope.

I am not talking about usage. I am talking about bottleneck.

How is 90-130 fps not smooth is my question? rolleyes.gif

So if your GPU usage in BF3 is around 50% you should increase the settings to make the GPU render it, so its less of a CPU bottleneck?

Beause I only have around 50% GPU usage in BF3, and I have everything on Low except Mesh Quality and Texture Resolution which are Ultra.

To be honest, between Low and Ultra, I don't notice a difference in quality. my FPS dips a little though...

I play all maps and 32-64 players. On LOW i easily max out the FPS, which is 200 by default. I can guarantee you....

BF3 isnt demanding at all. Kinda old.....
