Anyone happen to know if the mounting hardware is M3? I want to make sure I order the correct backplate.

Looking at this YouTube video and at 0:55, it says m4 for screws. Hope this solves your question.

Check out the installation instructions sheet here.

The screws keeping the block together are M4 but those are of course pre-installed. They keep the block sealed and are not involved when mounting the block or using a backplate. The mounting hardware kit is supplied with the block. If it's the usual EK "easy mount" kit then the ones holding on the backplate are also M4.

But that doesn't really matter since the mounting kit should be complete with everything you need. The most relevant questions for what backpplate to get are, what is the CPU block, and what kind of motherboard is it. As best I can tell, Z77 uses the 1155 socket, so get the plate for that style socket.

edit: I was wrong about the screws not being M4, according to the 115x mounting plate instructions, they are.
