Case in point: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

it depends on the os, some are easier to run off of a usb stick. win 7 and 8 have software to make a bootable usb drive. win 8 has it built in though, the other option is buying a portable cd drive (usb) and putting on top of your desk (for easier access). but if you do put one in it looks better in the second slot, if you throw it in the top slot, it feels out of place tongue.gif

(sorry about the errors got distracted watching the olympics)

I totally agree with you..But on all my other pcs I had it on top,and I just went with habit and installed it on top..
Nevertheless I'm waiting on some parts(gpu backplate etc),which means I'll have the opportunity to place the optical drive under my fan controller and see how i like it.. biggrin.gif
When the time comes I'll post pics(have to buy a new camera too rolleyes.gif )

I'd like to go for this setup :

CPU: Intel i7 4770k
Mobo: Asus MAximus vi gene c2
Ram: 16 go G.Skill RipJaws X Series (4x 4Go) DDR3 2133 MHz CL9
Cooler: Corsair H100i
GPU :R9 290 tri-x or 770 MSI
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 240gb
PSU: Corsair RM750
Front Fans: 2x Corsair AF140 Quiet
Back Fan: Corsair AF120 Quiet
Cooler Fans: 2x Corsair SP120 Performance

The only reason i can't instant buy ,is that i really need to know if this setup will not make too much noise ??

Thanks for advance

I see your using the same mobo as me an asus gryphon. you should have no problems using push pull as i have tried it on mine
see my photo below.

but ive decided to mount my H80i on the front looks much cleaner that way here a photo smile.gif

I just used some left over speaker cloth and wrapped it around a sheet metal frame. it's not fixed and is more to keep the dust out.

so all in all you remove it ,so every time you want to install something you have to hook up the DVD again?

I have an external blue ray drive.

Don't install the drive into the case, just use it outside the case during the software install process (you know its bad luck to put the sides of the case on during the 1st boot and OS install process right? ) When you are done just hide the cables in the case still attached to the MB/PSU and store the drive somewhere. If you need it again just pull a side off and plug it in.

This is assuming that you don't regularly need to burn CD's or install software on a regular basis of course. Since most stuff is downloadable from the net no need to leave it installed.

Use an .ISO or a USB stick or an external DVD drive.
I rarely ever use my DVD drive but I still have it installed.. it doesn't ruin the look too much in my opinion
post #2439 of 5053
cable side and front (after mobo upgrade0

this mine with the dvd drive installed, i might mod the font panel so that the case looks neater but for now i like it the way it is.
neat cable work (i hope)
new asus gryphon motherboard is in, so i decided to rewire the case. the power supply is non modular 9didnt know the difference when i bought it) but how does it look?
For those who've concealed their SSD behind the Motherboard tray with Velcro Tape, can you show me exactly where? I wish to do the same.
