The free backplate for my EVGA GTX770 arrived today and it came a lot faster than I expected. Here is a pic:
Unfortunately I can't say the same for the three rebate cards I submitted to Corsair. I tracked them today only to discover that Corsair claims that I didn't submit the UPC for my PSU. I didn't send them a copy, I literally cut it from the box, so I don't have any proof that I did. So it is their word against mine, unless somehow the UPC fell out of the envelope. I did all three rebates at the same time and I made sure that everything was there, the invoice, physical UPC, and submission form for each. Each envelope also had to be mailed to a different PO BOX, so it can be easy to mix them up, and send them to the wrong place. I double checked everything and they are saying that they didn't receive it.
I personally like Corsair and have never had an issue with them, but I can't help feeling skeptical about this missing UPC. Maybe they truly didn't receive it, but I know I placed the right one in each envelope. I remember reading a review on Newegg about a negative experience a guy had jumping through several hoops to finally obtain a small rebate from Corsair. So I am SOL with at least one of the rebates I sent in, but it appears that the other two are going through. A word of advise to any of you sending in your rebates;
-Make copies of the UPC if you can before sending them off. Maybe even send a copy (instead of deforming your product's box with a utility knife) but double check with Corsair before you do. If I remember correctly it has to be the actual UPC code from the box, so scan it before sending it off.
-Double check your paperwork, especially if you are sending multiple rebates at once. Each rebate likely is going to a different PO BOX, so pay attention. Corsair conveniently doesn't put the product ID on the initial submission form they have you print out to begin, so they are easy to get mixed up.
So, I got 2 out of 3 which some people might consider not that bad. But fact is that I now probably lost money considering the time I spent trying to get everything in order. Anyways I figured I'd give some of you the heads up and hope the same doesn't happen to some of you...
