Hard drive bandwidth issue? Help

Hey guys, so the other day I purchased a 2tb seagate hard drive. I have always had good experience with seagate. I had two 1TB in raid 0 and used the seagate disk wizard to clone the array to the new drive. Everything worked fine except when I was installing a game on steam. My entire system slowed down. I ran a benchmark in dxtory and it said i was getting anywhere from 3mb/s to 30mb/s. When the game was done downloading it went back to 130mb/s-160mb/s. Any ideas on why this could be? Thanks, Josh

Where do you think that game is going when you download it? Into the air? It's being written to your hard drive.

I know but it shouldn't lock up the whole system like that.. at least it didn't before.

What's your internet speed?

I mean, if you have gigabit it would probably freeze solid if you had a service that could provide that download speed.

You're not going to like this, but I'd much rather backup and re-install windows on the new hard drive than use a chinese-programmed application to copy all the data.

ok so yesterday I was using my computer, and the pc crashed. I wasn't doing anything stressful though. It didn't give me a BSOD, it just went to the bios. I tried restarting and after the windows logo it would turn off the monitor and go back to the bios. I tried booting into safe mode and everything. I also checked in the bios, it still recognized the drive, but wouldn't boot to it. I threw in my old drives and am back online but I can't seem to figure out what happened to the new drive. Any thoughts?

Like I said, using hard drive cloning software isn't a guarantee every single bit will be the same. Something probably got screwed up, likely a driver or something.

Best bet is reformat and reinstall windows.

Yep, your right, it was the POS clone software. I just formatted it and it seems to be working fine. In fact, it is faster that my other two drives. I am planning on getting a boot ssd (corsair neutron 240GB) and use the 2tb for files and stuff. However, I am planning on upgrading my motherboard and processor in the next few months. Should I wait to buy the ssd and do a fresh install of windows when I get the new Motherboard or do you think I could do it now and then swap them out.

Whatever is easiest for you.
