LMAO! Do you realize what the average U.S. salary is compared to Australia (not to mention Los Angeles vs Syndey)? And you're bragging about how you spent $1.5k on a computer? Seriously!?

Do you even hear yourself dude? your just being a jerk. what the hell do you have against his laptop? all he is saying is that laptops can be upgraded, since most people dont realize that. no one said that laptops are superior to desktops.

Stop being such a little kid. I have a desktop, and plan to possibly get an alienware in the next couple years. why? because I will be on the go a lot and alienware laptops last a great while due towards their upgradability.

+1 for alienware, though expensive, The outer shell on the R3 atleast can take one hell of a beating, I've slept on it more times then i can count.

I also don't think he realizes that things are signifigantly more expensive here, Salaray differances are meaningless, I earn 3 times more and i pay 4 times more, My take home money for non bills is smaller then the average americans.

This thread is funny. I haven't posted much, and don't have very much rep, is it even ok to post here?

Anyway, I own an alienware laptop as well as a custom desktop. I work throughout the country, and bring my laptop with me to game on. I have absolutely no complaints about it. I did my research, and picked a setup that gave me satisfactory performance for when I'm not at home and I want to play whatever game I want to play. I work 12 hours per day, and go back to my hotel or apartments, and kick back and play a game or 2. I travel about 3 weeks per month, and fly everywhere. I leave my laptop plugged in 100% of the time that I am not traveling to or from the airport. It sits on my desk in my room while I am gaming. In my eyes, this is the definition of portability. There is no way that I would trust the airlines to handle a desktop as a checked bag, even a small form factor setup.

To all the laptop haters, generalized comments saying "gaming laptops are a joke", really should put their bias aside and legitimately give one a try. I never thought a laptop could meet my standards, and I am thoroughly impressed with mine. If only some people weren't so ignorant, they might begin to see that there is some legitimate tech out there that they have brushed aside that actually does have some real world uses that doesn't sacrifice performance nearly as much as the "know".

Don't worry, You aren't being a dick thats the reason why i called him out, anyway alot of people are ignorant and honestly don't know just how well a laptop can go, I wouldn't trade mine in for all the titans in the world.

Why i don't like gaming laptops is simple or any laptop in general :
Performance/dollar is terrible if you keep it on a desk and many of them tend to be on a desk 24/7 so ...

If it doesnt ever leave the desk, that just means the buyer was to daft to go and buy a desktop. Laptops are great for people who use them, and performance/dollar really cant be compared to desktops, that would be comparing apples to oranges. expecting desktop power in such a small size for the same price is ridiculous.

Some of you people need to realize that laptops are upgradeable. Most important part of the laptop is the motherboard because of it. GPU/CPU isn't always soldered on, some of them have slots/sockets and can be upgraded just like a desktop.

2) Yes they are, Check Sager/alienware/Asus G series MSI Gaming series.
3) Yes they are, Just have to get the right ones, DTR's use MXM standard and can be easily swapped out, Case in point i've gone from a GTX 460m, To a 6990m, To a 7970m in the same machine i've gone from a 2630QM to a 2920xm.

Perhaps you shouldn't post in a thread that you know nothing of.
I can confirm that I do not look at benchmarks.
