gtx 680 fps

Thread Starter
hello, i have a major issue that is starting to piss me off. i just build a new computer for the gpu that i bought which is the evga gtx 680 ftw+ 4 GB ram and i am getting major fps drops and the card is under-clocking itself to 370 MHz on the core, before i had an older computer and the CPU was bottlenecking the gpu like crazy so i build a brand new one and it is still doing it, this is a $600+ gpu so you can understand my frustration plus another $700+ for the rest of my build and it is still doing it in games and benchmarking software. i don't know what else to do so if someone could help me out that would be awesome. BTW i am running the latest driver version 320.18.

Computer Specs
Intel i7 4770 processor
Asus z87-a motherboard
evga gtx 680 ftw+ 4 GB ram
Corsair Vengeance pro 8 GB (x2 GB) ram
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Direct Heat Pipe CPU Cooler
Corsair tx 750 watt psu

Change it to performance mode in Nvidia Control Panel. It sounds like power saving features are underclocking the card while it is actually under load.

I have heard a lot say the driver version 320.18. is crap that may very well be why

Try one of the older drivers and see if it still does it

Glad it worked for you! I was tearing my hair out until I realized that it was the driver.... Still, plenty of people don't believe it's causing issues. It got so bad that it resulted in my being unable to boot into Windows, and unable to do a repair with the install CD. Thankfully, I figured out a way to fix it, but it turns out that the driver messed with a whole lot of different registry keys (yes, I always do proper uninstall, wipe, reboot, install of drivers). Before that, though, I was getting CONSTANT crashing in every game, from Crysis 1 to Borderlands 2, which started happening every 4-6hrs but eventually got to where I would crash within seconds of loading a game level. Also, it was causing HUGE spikes in the power percentage monitoring via Precision X; as in, well over 350% even though there was no extraneous load on the card. I noticed, also, that if I had Precision X monitoring open, and opened GPU-Z, it would cause a power percentage spike to ~550-600%!!!

314.22 seem to be working much better!

The worst part, though?

My card was 100% stable at 1432Mhz Core and 7648Mhz VRAM, ever since I got it (May of '12).... But now, after having had that Nvidia feces in my system, I can barely get 1293core/6980mem stable! It destroyed my overclock, and I am no longer competitive in HWBot 3D benches anymore mad.gifmad.gifmad.gif

My 3x 680s has crazy instability issues with the 320.18. FPS spikes, downclocking, folding ppd was erratic as hell, gpu utilization was all over the place (thought sli profiles got better with newer drivers kookoo.gif)

Rolled back to my ol' trusty 314.22 and all was well.

Really wondering what Nvidia was thinking with this. headscratch.gif
