What a good pc for rendering/gaming?

Thread Starter
Guys i need(???) a new pc for modeling/rendering in 3ds max, zbrush and gaming, but i dont know what to buy. I have a FX 8120 @4.5, Corsair Vengeance 2x4 DDR3 1600, GTX 570, Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3, Thermaltake TR2 700w but some renderings are taking too much time, i think i need a new processor. I was wondering what cpu i bought: The new FX9350 or an i7 3930k? I dont want to waste a lot of money and buying an i7 i will have to buy a new mobo, so i need your opinions. Thanks!

It really depends on where the FX-9350 lands price wise. If it lands at say, $250, I'd gun for it, since you'll probably be able to overclock it to 4.7 GHz for sure, which should improve performance over your current FX-8120 at 4.5 GHz somewhat. If it lands at say, $500, the i7 3930K would probably be the better value, even though you have to buy a new motherboard. And it's very possible that the i7 3930K would be faster than the FX-9590, especially when overclocked.

I really think the RAM is the bottleneck, however. I'd grab 16 GB of RAM first and see what happens.
