whatever 1.0.10 flashes is irreversible

I'm still skeptical it does anything with the firmware though. I'll dig out my own unit one of these days.

Ah jeeze you gotta be kidding....

The prediction was so bad I felt it as soon as I hit "apply"

Damn steelseries....

Edit

Well uninstalling drivers through device manager and rebooting with ss kinzu doesnt really seem to have helped mad.gif

ah well. Hai ho, hai ho, its back to WMO/G PRO I go.

Yeah the firmware got flashed when you did that so RIP to your Kinzu, you won't be missed...except for by me, you'll be missed by me. I should look into how I can fix Kinzus that got butchered by that firmware update, I'll have to find out how I can get the firmware off my Kinzu if I even can.

after some unboxing i found mx300 and mx500. turns out they drop reports when polled at 500hz or above. awww.
no dropped reports at 250hz but then they will malfunction after ~2m/s.

however, when polled at 1khz, the mx300 won't malfunction above 6m/s while the MX500 only reaches ~4m/s before it does. does anyone know more? i haven't opened them up yet.

How's the jitter on 1kHz?

I like how lod slider in the Cougar 580m(Revenger) has all these notches even though the highest the lod can go is 1cd. It might go just a little~ itty itty bitty higher than 1cd. Maybe. I tested without the feet on, since I removed them.

That MX300 plot is just weird though. I could make mine malfunction(took effort). That was on the qck. I've since switched to a Taito.

Slightly related: I'm actually interested in tracking down a MX518 with the angle snapping srom. At least to me it looked like it had the Diamondback's behavior in terms of malfunction speed. Though in this case I'm still going off results from the esreality test in terms of possible malfunction behavior.

i've done a few dozen of swipes and they're all similar to it. the MX300 does malfunction at 4m/s when polled at 500hz, but at 1khz it seems to go beyond 7m/s without malfunctioning.
i have no software installed and afaik the MX300 doesn't have on-board memory so i doubt there are any kind of settings involved.
the MX500 malfunctions at 4m/s whether it's polled at 500hz or 1khz. i have two other MX500 i could try and see if they're any different - i will probably do this later.

angle snapping srom?
in the same box i found two mx518, they are 1800dpi versions it seems like (feet similar to the g400). could either of them have the srom you mean or was it exclusive to the 1600 version?

The report rate issue isn't that bad, but what I meant was, I've heard the S2020 only goes up to 450Hz and has insane jitter in the paint tests at 450Hz, is it the same for the A2020?

i figured you didn't mean cursor jitter because i figured these low-cpi mice wouldn't have any of it any way.
at least the MX300 looks fine (to me) at 1khz.

the left bit is slow movement, right bit is fast movement:

Hell, I think I need to look at my MX300 again. I still like the Diamondback shape better though. tongue.gif

mx518 v1 is 400/1600 with angle snapping on
