Odd question:

I went out to a party at a farm last night, and got a little drunk. After I had a buzz going on, the guy that owns the farm took me out to his shop to show me a computer he wants to get rid of. Said he wants $20 for it.

Now, the problem is, I can't for the life of me remember what kind it was and have no way of contacting him to ask without going through several people to contact friends of friends of friends...

Here's what I DO remember:

It's a mid tower.
Silver
HP or Compaq
1gb RAM
320 or 360gb HDD
Had a GPU listed on it as if it were separate and not integrated.

I believe it looked like this:

Basically, I'm trying to decide if it's worth dropping the $20 on. I would also like to know what the GPU is. I've not encountered a low-mid range HP/Compaq with anything but on-board graphics. Soooo.... If you know anything about it, or know of a site that could help me to find out, I'd appreciate the help.

For $20 bones? Who cares what the specs are lol pick it up! On another note, this is a shot in the dark friend. HP or Compaq had a lot of machines so it will take some serious time to find. The best thing for you to do is go through your contacts and get the info. That way, you will know 100% what the rig is.

I will probably end up doing that. I just don't want to spend an hour or two bothering people to bother people so they can bother other people. lol

I think the one I posted is the right model, actually, the specs seem to fit perfectly with the GeForce 7500LE GPU I found on the page that pic is from.

The issue with the computer is it won't recognize keyboard and mouse anymore. I'll see if I can talk him down to ten or less. Also comes with a CRT (crappy Compaq) keyboard and mouse (also crappy).

Your "bother" statement has me confused. You don't want to bother your contacts, but yet, have no problem asking the entire OCN to find a crap shoot for you? lmao I'm just playing with you man. Is it worth $20 to ask people about this? If not, then save your $20 and take your spouse, child, dog, etc out for some McDonalds.

Well, someone here may work for Compaq/HP, or have the same desktop. The problem I have with going through the grapevine to ask about it is that I call my friend and ask her to ask her friend to ask her friend, to ask his friend, to ask his friend, to ask her dad, to ask his brother... See what I mean? I also have the option of driving out to the farm at random and talking to him directly. But around here, just driving onto someones farm usually involves guns, and angry farmers. Also, that's a long drive out there, man. lol

I'm sure it's worth the $20, and if I can fix it and resell it, it's DEFINITELY worth it. I was just curious as to what the exact specs are and how much it IS worth in working condition. Best place to find things like that out is right here.
