Ati/AMD Driver freezes my computer?

Hi! It's been quite a while since I posted around these parts but I've run into some trouble and I was thinking if you guys could give me hand.

For quite a few years now I've had a radeon hd4850 and it works great for the most part but for a long time (I believe since I installed windows 7) I run into an oddly specific problem. It goes like this:

If I have not one but TWO active monitors (the second one being my TV through an HDMI connection), I have some browser tab with some flash object open and I close said tab my screen will turn black for a few seconds.

From here on 2 possible things will happen, either my PC will freeze completely (most likely) or a "Driver stopped working" sign will appear and keep going normally (at least until I close another tab with a flash object).

Again this only happens when I have both my screens active, In single monitor configuration it works just fine.

I've even reinstalled windows (for unrelated reasons) and installed the latest driver and it's still an issue. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance! thumb.gif

you have mentioned you have reinstalled windows and installed the latest ATI drivers, if thats so, i would start by trying to replace the graphics card and seeing if you still encounter the same issue.

Hope that helps as a start. good luck thumb.gif
