In other words i am trying to be able to game down without turning my room into a oven. Heck don't mind the fact it gets hot in here when doing extreme gaming but it would get up 84 .f in my room with a window fan in and in the mid 70s outside. Now i have ac but don't want to kill my 5000btu unit by working it to death with my computer.
sorry but sometimes i get an answer faster this way but i suppose i just need to be patient lol. my bad

You might have needed to change the power options in Windows as well... I had a similar "issue" when I wanted to reduce the power usage. I was using higher performance instead of balanced/custom/power-saver/etc

Just disable HT and it will lower your load temps at about 5'C or so.

It's puzzling to me that you just wouldn't test this out yourself as it would takes 5 minutes.

it's puzzling to me why you'd spend 500 bucks on a cpu just to turn it's cores off, Or buy one full well knowing that it'll heat up the room and then have an issue with the heat.

Isn't the whole point of the 3930K that it's 6 cores?? Perhaps you should have gone with a quad core to begin with.

In any case, I don't think your CPU is going to heat up your room...

Your better off lowering the frequency a bit and let it down clock itself with speedstep and the c states. Generally mine runs at 0.8v and 1.2ghz for most things I'm doing only time it cranks up is when I game.
Dam auto correct.
