The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition - Weird "floating hands" bug

Can't seem to pinpoint what this is. I just got the game and started playing. Noticed this a couple of times. Searched all over the internet without any results. What are these translucent clear floating hands surrounding my body?

I'm trying to get into the game, but this keeps popping up. I tried lowering my overclock settings on my card, though that was the issue, but it still stays there so I don't know what it is. I even turned off all overclocking on my card and it's still there. What is this? Is it a part of the game?

You can see it best in the third picture. Three hands surrounding my body.

Does it only happen when you are near water or in dark areas?

The first thing I would do, is to update my drivers. It could easily be a bug with the drivers. Also, try verifying your cache through steam, to make sure that there was nothing botched with the installation of the game.

No it happened a few times in a few of the opening acts above ground too, barely noticeable. Just very noticeable down in this part of the game in dark areas. I would update to newest drivers, but with newest nVidia drivers I'm not trusting right now because of the cases of hearing people having their cards being destroyed. I actually was getting artifact issues (even at low clocks) with those drivers which is why I reverted to 320.14

What is verifying the cache going to do? Should I just try to reinstall? I added some texture mods but they are only for environment and weapons. Could those be it?

The point of verefying the cache, is so that any missing files or currupt files can be downloaded, instead of re-downloading the whole game. I would suggest you remove the mods and then try verifying the cache of the game, so that you can make sure to rule out the mods as being the issue.

Then if you still want to use the mods, install one by one and check to see if it creates the problem again.

How to verify the game cache:
Quote:
Verify integrity of game cache
Load Steam
From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button.
Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.
Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.

BTW, where in Jersey are you? I'm in JC. thumb.gif

Thanks I will do that, and then play through without the mods first to see if I notice the issue again.

I live in Northern NJ now, in Sparta by Lake Mohawk. I'm originally from Newark though.

EDIT: Reinstalled game, floating hands are gone, AWESOME! +rep

Nice! I'm playing through the first game now and can't wait to get to the second. I've got a bunch of mods on the first, but there's so many awkward little things that annoy me about it, that I want to get to the second one instead.

Enjoy the game man! wink.gif
