Please Recommend Headphone + Sound Card

So, I'm looking for a gaming setup, specifically some headphones and a sound card. My budget would be approximately 250 dollars for the lot of it. My musical tastes tend towards metal but I listen to pop, folk, blue grass, jazz (in order of most frequently listened to). I would like the headphones to be excellent for gaming and also comfortable on the ears. The usage gaming/music is about 80/20. I prefer closed back head phones for the immersion. I have these massive bands on my glasses on the sides (I wear Larkin's from warbyparker.com) and wearing a headset hurts after approximately 1-2 hours. I'm not sure if there's a way around this. I currently own PC360's (which I'd like to sell/trade). I am going to be using this gear 100% of the time at my desk on my home gaming PC. I live in the US; Minneapolis, MN, conveniently located next to a micro center, if that helps at all. I would like a suggestion from you incredibly enthusiastic people for a set up I could use.

Thanks! biggrin.gif

EDIT: It's also worth mentioning that my board doesn't have a PCI slot. So, only PCIe cards for me!

I've seen recommendations for the ASUS DGX, STX, and Creative Soundblaster Z and Titanium X-Fi HD.

Based on my situation, what do you think is most appropriate? And why is there such a high price disparity between Creative and ASUS?
