Moving iTunes to new build - Will this work?

I want to move my gf's iTunes library, completely intact with all her metadata, playlist, etc, to a new build. I've had this issue before and figured it out with some help but have now totally forgotten what I did and can't find the thread.

My plan is to copy the entire iTunes folder to an external drive, copy her media folder to the same external .
Then I make new build, install windows, hook up external, give it the same drive letter her media folder used to be on, install iTunes, hold shift when opening iTunes for the first time and point it to the library I copied onto the external. This should give me the same library and the music should be at the same address as before, so when she opens iTunes on the new computer it should look and operate exactly the same as it did on the old machine.

Will this actually work?
