Plus, there are already benefits.... you find me a non - pmr 750GB drive

So, how full are your current drives again?

Good link.

I ask because I wanted to get a good deal on my so called 'slave' RAID 0 array in my workstation. The 'master' array is of course 2 Raptors in RAID 0.
I plan to replace the 2 Raptors with 4 SATA II Raptors whenever they come out.

So ya I'll just get two 320GB Seagates, I'm not waiting for the PMR advancement.

First, I don't think there will be sataII raptors any time soon. There simply is no reason for them, since even in RAID, they don't even get close maxing out the SATAI bandwidth. Right now, the SATA bandwidth is silly, since no current traditional hardware can even get close to use it... (even in four-disk RAID arrays, and more than four disks just doesn't add much more significant performance).

I think with your two-raptor RAID, you have performance that's as good as it gets. What is actually more interesting is the development of solid state mass storage (think Gigabyte iRAM but then high capacity). That'll be a heck of a lot faster, and actually do benefit from SATA II bandwidth.
