Searching for a Motherboard and new Memory

Thread Starter
I will be purchasing either an E6400 or E6600, and I need to find a motherboard that supports SLI and is great for overclocking.

This is what I am thinking:

Motherboard:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131045

Memory:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820146118

Please don't let me make a bad choice!

That board doesn't have SLI, unless you used some driver. Get the evga 680i board.

Agreed. It is possible with unbalanced ratings (not PCIE @ 2 x16), and I believe that hacked drivers would be required. Doesn't seem practicle or wise monetarily.

They are fine if you don't plan on going over the stated speeds. They lack the ability to overclock. but you can get up to a fbs of around 400 when they are set 1:1 with the cpu thats more than enough unless u want to go higher. basically you will hit a wall at a cirtain OC point

I have that kit in my 2nd rig and they're pretty good, they can do 442mhz max on a 2.2v CAS 4-4-4-8.

These kit right here will be also good: G.Skill DDR2 800 CAS 4-4-4 for $225.

And that's a great motherboard you're considering, except no SLI but "IF" SLI is what you're aiming for? A 680i but from what we know here, there are several issues people are having whenever someone overclocks a 680i.

Keep the P5B Deluxe because it'll easily take the 2.13ghz to 3.0ghz w/o any glitches and buy a GeForce 8800 card.

If the motheboard is having overclock issues I'm not sure I would really like to purchase one...

Is there more information on this that you could point me to? Do you have any other recommendations?

The eVGA 680i mobo has been having issues with frying RAM, the Abit one should be just the same, although the Abit one has different BIOS...
