MAC Address cloning - will not work?

I picked up a ASUS RT-N53

Seems everything worked great after the initial setup,
however, everytime i try to do a mac address clone to change the id and get a new IP, it just says invalid mac address.

The old Netgear WNR3500 was a simple click from default mac address to "use this mac address" where you could edit any portion of the mac and reset the IP

any help would be appreciated. google isn't doing much

What kind of MAC are you trying to use, exactly?

on the netgear i would just enter a mac address to use in there and it would change the ip according to the values. on asus i just cant find a way frown.gif

But which specific values? From the sounds of it you may be using invalid formatting or something outside the realm of hexadecimal characters.

Also, not to be nitpicky but that's not an IP spoof, you're simply introducing a host with an appearingly different hardware address so the DHCP server will give you another actual WAN IP from the pool.

I'd say this is most definitely the case.

You only have 0-9 and A-F as valid characters for a MAC address. If you want to do this quick-n-dirty, just change the last four characters of the current MAC to anything in the range I just gave you (1234, ABCD, B00B, D3AD, etc.). You could also just paste in your PC's MAC and do the same thing.
