Looking for my first mechanical keyboard

Hey guys, I've been looking to replace my Logitech G510 with a mechanical keyboard for a while now, which will be mostly used for gaming.

What's important for me is (in no particular order) a wristrest, full backlighting, pretty much quiet operation, media keys, anti-ghosting and a clean look.

I've been looking at 2 keyboards lately, the Logitech G710+ and the Corsair K70. I tried the G710+ with MX Browns and o-rings and I generally liked how it felt, but it's just a hideous keyboard to be honest... Both the glossy black finish and the orange accents look like crap IMO.

The K70 I haven't had a chance to try yet (gorgeous board though), but I did try a CM Storm QuickFire Pro with MX Reds. I generally liked the feeling of the keys except for the feeling when I bottomed the keys out (I do that all the time unfortunately). It had a kind of cheap feeling when doing that, but I'm guessing that o-rings would take care of this.

The reason for picking these 2 is that they both sort of meet my general criteria, they're readily available and they seem to get favorable reviews.

So which one should I pick? A G710+, A K70 with o-rings (and which rings exactly), or something else entirely?

Thanks in advance guys! smile.gif

There aren't many other keyboards that come with a wrist rest. I'd go with the current K70 or wait for the one with MX Browns.

Here's my O-ring comparison. The red WASD O-rings are a great choice.

My vote - K70. It just looks better, the g710+ is a great board but as you said it's not really a looker tongue.gif . I have the QuickFire Pro and for my first mechanical keyboard it convinced me to join the light biggrin.gif but the partial backlight is bothering me way more than I expected it to, so again I would personally go for the K70.

As for the o-rings, can't really comment on that, I have no experience with them.

Yeah... it'll take ages for the MX Brown version to come out here, the regular MX Red versions are only now starting to show up, so I guess I'll go with that one. Thanks for the advice on the o-rings! I was actually considering the blue ones because I was afraid the .2 mm travel reduction the red rings provide wouldn't help very much with the cheap feeling when bottoming the keys out, but I suppose they're the ones to go either way! Thanks!

Yeah, the lighting on the QuickFire Pro looks like crap, it would annoy the hell out of me. tongue.gif

Hmm, I'm wondering about the K70 with browns, but am I correct in assuming it's only gonna be available with the gunmetal finish and not with the black? Corsair's website isn't really clear on this IMO. smile.gif
