Asrock z77 Extreme3 thoughts/ experiences?

Thread Starter
So recently I've been looking at the Asrock Extreme6, but I started to looking at the Extreme3 after I read about it in a review. In numerous benchmarks it performed better than the Extreme6 and a number of other reviews. But in a number of reviews the Extreme6 is beaten by a Extreme4. Seems kinda goofy. Anywho I can't really see why it would be worth paying $30 more for the Extreme6. Does anyone have any experience with this board how has it treated you?

First off, do you know that the Extreme Series and Pro Series have been known not to report correct voltages?

I'm an owner of the Z77-Extreme 6 and I had to accept this fact before jumping in. I have my 3770k overclocked to 4.5Ghz and I did it pretty easily. In my BIOS it reports it my voltage at 1.254v but I know it's between 30-50mV higher. So in essence I'm hitting 1.3V (max) at 4.5Ghz which isn't so bad. Max temps I get using a Hyper 212+ is 71*C playing for at least 4 hours on Crysis, etc.

I personally would choose the 6 over the 3 for the simple fact that it uses better mosfets than either the Extreme 3 and 4. Here's some reference material for you to look through--> HERE

If I'm not mistaken the Extreme 3 is a stripped down version of the Extrmem 4 so this could mean that it uses the same D-PAK mosfets which means it's bad, since these bad boys heat up really bad and are end of life mosfets (If I'm not mistaken).

All correct, except my Extreme 6 is reporting correct voltage. I think this varies from board to board. Go with the 6 because the use the better Mosfets, as stated above.
