HAHAHAH I think you hit it on the head... a few years ago you would see either cheap ear buds in more peoples ears or maybe skull candy (again only because of "style")... Then beats by dre happened! and just like that people who used to never care about how junky or cheap the headphones they had on are now paying hundreds of dollars for headphones because of "style" and GREAT product placement! Music videos, movies, commercials etc!
I live in a not so great area of Chicago where people don't usually make a lot of money and I see beats by dre EVERYWHERE I look.
I think I replied to another thread you posted with the same question the Sens are not the only headphone to look at. But I agree with the above users in saying steer clear of beats by dre. Would you buy the lady gaga headphones? Because they are probably the same thing as another pair of beats by dre.
Will your friends and family think you have awesome headphones if you rock a pair of beats by dre? Sure maybe but the same could be said about bose just beats by dre has even more brand recognition for headphones (I think atleast) and they are probably worse on a $ to $ comparison.
Will your friends, family and strangers have a clue what Sennheiser is? Only the people who have a clue about real headphones and even then... Sennheiser is like the Movado of watches... Rado makes just as good of watches as Movado but it seems only doctors and old men know that.
So don't limit yourself to just those 2 brands... do some research. I love my Sennheiser's though and have been beating the crap out of them for 10 or so years.
