I know I messed it up with powerstrip..
Can you connect your monitor to a laptop or a different computer?

Let's make sure PowerStrip didn't "theoretically" screw up your GPU, or had a "chance" malfunction.

some good news...
THE MONITOR IS BACK ON and working at 25601600 with the discrete gpu.

the problem was the the display cable.
i have 4 sets of dp cables; 2 regular 6ft and 2 other 15ft. the 15ft were doa a few years back. doa with the 6970. but after my new upgrade the 15ft. worked with this intel motherboard+intel 4000hd. i've been using them for a few days. i'd get some rare flicker here and there but they've been working. until the monitor just stopped working with them and i forgot and plugged the same 15ft. cable to the 6970 which i should have known have never worked with it. when i plugged in the 6ft voila it worked.

this whole fiasco started when i wanted to hook up the 2560x1600 through the igpu freeing up the 6970. [the 6970 takes care of the 3x24" monitors eyefinity]. i thought getting a motherboard that could do 2560x1600 could prevent me from buying another discrete gpu but that's looking like it's not the case. intel 4000hd + z67 bios is not stable enough to run 2560x1600. there are problems all over the net about it. i found a temporary fix do downsize the color depth from 32-bit to 16-bit but it somewhat worked for a few days and i was back here. then i got into powerstrip but that didn't work out as i thought...

I knew it had to be a circumstantial event.
Unlike the early days, modern monitors don't fry from weird timings.
Even aggressive overclocking (120Hz) don't frequently damage monitors.

i'm a little happy. still frustrated i can't get monitors to hook up where i want to. i ordered a cable that'll be here in about a week.
