Will Next Gen consoles effect Nvidia card functionality with games?

Thread Starter
I read some articles on pcgamer.com and other forums that with the PS4 and Xbox one using all amd parts will impact the way nvidia cards handle games. (http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/06/16/how-amds-hardware-in-next-gen-consoles-will-affect-pc-gamers/ ). Should I be worried about this or stick to buying nvidia? I like the features I have with my 660TI and have already planned to invest in next generation nvidia cards. I really don't want to switch to AMD to play next gen games but if I have to i will to get optimal performance. Do you think the next gen consoles with really effect the way games are optimized for either nvidia or amd?

we'll have to wait and see.

sorry but that is the most honest answer. there can be someone more knowledgeable that can explain how everything on paper but, how it equates to real world performance is strictly another matter. it would be reasonable to believe that an AMD setup would run better than an intel/nvidia rig.

but how much better?

or more importantly, would the intel/nvidia performance be unsatisfactory?

if the performance is still good enough and the pricing isn't out of this world then i would still consider the green team. but if the results get to be too one sided . .there is going to be a little more red in my life.

Software companies may be optimizing their software for AMD, but AMD still needs to catch up in terms of the technology they are putting on the market and their manufacturing process. The 600+ series are already much more powerful than what will be offered in the PS4/Xbox One.

Software optimization will help AMD somewhat, but if Nvidia/Intel continue to out muscle AMD in terms of raw processing power, then they will continue to dominate.

If AMD can catch up and offer a competing product then optimized software will be a bigger factor.
