GTX 780 and GTX Titan SLi'ed: ALMOST THERE!!

Hello!

Like some of you read this morning in another thread I decided to give a shot and tried to make a GTX 780 and GTX Titan work together in SLi (wanted to start a new thread since this will be the official one).

I worked a good 4 hours so far tweaking stuff left and right, and trying A LOT of different things, and I'm happy to report that I'm almost there: the 780 and Titan are now talking to each other and showing as SLi'ed in every monitoring program I have. Even though they are 2 different cards (and technically should'nt work in SLi thanks to nVidia) they are both showing clearly as unique cards, use their own core clock and memory clock (either in 2D or 3D, and also can both be synchronized to run at the same speed with Precision X) and so far I've made a lot of progress.

Right now though I hit a wall because even though everything is fine in a Windows and 2D environment the whole computer is crashing when anything 3D is started (benchmarks or games).

I'm confident that we will find the fix for that soon after getting over the previous obstacles though; currently talking with buddies here and people on TPU to get any feedback/ideas on how to fix this. The guy there who first came up with the actual mod to be able to SLi 2 different cards in a genius seriously thumb.gif

So close to actually make it work!!! biggrin.gif

I always sort-of assumed you could SLI different cards, especially cards as similar as the Titan and the 780.

Nice progress though, considering this apparently isn't a native feature for nV. Good work!

I'm not sure if there are any rules broken by posting the link I'm about to (mod can remove if necessary), but there is a driver hack that lets you SLI different cards of the same architecture. I was able to get a 560ti SLI'ed with my bro's 460 for some fun. Anyways, here is the link.

Yup that's exactly this mod that I am using (needs some tweak and work though once installed like finding the right config, position of cards, options, conflicts with other programs, etc).

The guy is Anatolymik thumb.gif

Still can't find what the problem is after 2 hours and still looking into it...

Seems like Heaven can run in Basic mode without problems, both card are working, but if I put it at anything higher like Extreme or Extreme HD it doesn't work, crash everytime (and I mean HARD, have to reboot the computer)...

Sigh... rolleyes.gif
