Do you think it would be worth spending an extra $30 for no dead pixels or should I just take my chances?

I had no pixel guarantee however the seller was offering a 0-2 dead/stuck pixel special. I don't think he ever opened the box though. I think the best chances of getting a good monitor are ones they don't open and test. After all if it is good they can just stick it in the pixel perfect area and make more money. I should say I payed $305 for my x-star and I also got a 3 year squaretrade warranty which made my total $355. I'm happy with it.

For those still wondering here's the difference between the PLS and IPS monitors:

PLS:
  • Better color calibration out of the box
  • Slightly better image quality overall
  • Slightly better viewing angles

The build quality on the CrossOver 27Q is all metallic and it probably looks the most classy out of all the PLS/IPS monitors.

The overall image quality on the CrossOver 27Q is superb. I don't think I would notice a huge difference moving to PLS but I'm going to find out soon.

Hi all,

I'm in the market for a 1440P monitor and am looking at the Crossover 27Q. However, I also found they have these 27QW or 27QD for slightly cheaper, about $50 or so. When I look at their specs between the Q and the QW or QD, the only differences besides the case and stand is that the Q has S-IPS panel and the others have AH-IPS panel. I know that AH-IPS is newer tech so why is it cheaper than the older S-IPS? Another differences I missed?

Thanks

Where are these selling for $280? I see them at about $300 today on ebay. Do they go on sale often? I wonder if they even know about American Black Friday. biggrin.gif I missed their ebay deal of day a few weeks ago for $260.

That's what most experts claim and the claim originally came from Samsung.

A quick video from LinusTechTips explains it clearly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNc2fKuVnGU
