Impact of PS4/XBone on Future of Radeon Gaming?

So I read this today: http://www.inquisitr.com/794315/battlefield-4-pc-optimized-for-amd/

I feel that PS4/XBone's reliance on AMD could be heavily damaging to Nvidia. DICE won't be the only developer trying to develop games for PS4/XBone/PC. You used to need port PS3/Xbox 360 games onto PC, which resulted in some really crappy ports. Now, it is largely one set of code with minor changes.

What might kill Nvidia card is if console developers start to base their design decisions on the architecture and strength of the Radeon platform. Games that are designed from ground up to run well on Radeon won't run well on Nvidia no matter how you polished the drivers.

Nightmare scenario time: Sleeping Dogs

http://www.techspot.com/review/675-nvidia-geforce-gtx-780/page5.html

Look at how 780 is barely any faster than a 7970 Ghz, and Titan is also barely 5% faster.

It used to be that this game is either AMD or Nvidia favored. I predict that 90% of the games will be AMD favored mainly because all the console developers are developing for a Radeon platform. If future games turn out to be like Sleeping Dogs, Dirt Showdown, Nvidia could be in trouble.

Good thing I'm running AMD then smile.gif

On a serious note, you make a good point. Honestly though, only time will tell.

Wow, that never phased me. Maybe Intel will stop having the better gaming CPUs... crap tongue.gif

Anyone want to trade two 560 ti's for a good radeon card? lol
I was wondering the same thing. Maybe AMD needs this, Maybe will be the push they need to start competing with intel again!
I guess only time will tell.

Well isn't this more like specific cards (HD 7790) than AMD in general?

Architecture between the 7790/7850 equivalent is much more similar to other AMD cards, than it is to Nvidia.

I don't think it will matter as much as you think. I love AMD, and I would love to see them on top but you gotta look at similar outcomes other companies have had. FORD motor company, for instance, still gets spanked by Toyota for sales even though FORD sells mass quantities of vehicles through fleet sales to large companies/organizations like city and state vehicles for instance.

The problem with doing this, as I'm sure AMD is going to have, is that A) For each GPU or CPU put in a system, they are making pennies on the dollar. Pennies do add up, but not to much. And B) Pumping out that many of one or two products will most assuredly lead to a drop in QC. This will in turn place a stigma on AMD that will undoubtedly and unnecessarily effect peoples decision making when purchasing a new GPU for their PC. I mean, let's face it, who hasn't said something bad about or decided not to buy something just because you heard a poor review of it?rolleyes.gif
