Looking for a cheap laptop

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I'm not overly great with laptops so I figure I will ask you guys.

What is your maximum budget?
$400-450

What country are you in?
US

What will be the uses of this laptop?
Movies, school work

Do you have brand loyalty or care which brands we select for you?
Just stay away from Mac

What screen size do you require?
13.3" or smaller, will go up to 14" if needed

What screen resolution do you require?
At least 1366x768, preferably higher

Are you looking to buy NEW or would refurbished/recertified/used be okay?
New

How long should the battery last? (Under optimal conditions, no movies/games/heavy internet)
5+ hours

What games would you like to play with your laptop? And on what settings?
the most I would be using this for as far as games would be emulators (seeing as I am looking to replace my EmuPAD)

What operating system do you need? (if any)
N/A I have access to Dreamspark through my school

Is there a certain style of laptop you want? (aluminum, black, gaming, etc.)
One that doesn't get insanely hot after 30 minutes of use

How much hard drive space do you need?
250gb+

Do you need any special hardware? (blue ray, webcam, specialty ports, etc.)
Webcam and usb 3.0 would be nice, but arent required

Is there anything else we need to know?
You will get +rep if I like the suggestion. Ivy Bridge if possible.
