Can you share with Steam? "oh but it's not the only marketplace!"

Not yet, but they're working on it. XB1 would remove any possibility for it with Microsoft's requirements.

If there were more quality games over quantity, then I would be inclined to agree with Gear Box. However the consumer seems to be screwed over more and more through the years.

Games knowingly being buggy but released anyways so the developer/publisher can recoup cost. ... see Aliens Colonial Marines.

Developers creating a full game but only selling you 80% of the story so they can sell the rest later as DLC. I love same day game/dlc releases... see Dead Space 3

Marketing campaigns that cost as much or more than the development cost of the game. ... see COD: MW2

Packaging having less and less substance, ie: no manuals, yet still costing the same on the shelf.

So I throw it back at the game industry. If you want full retail value for your product, give me an experience worth paying for.

P.S. I have absolutely no issue paying retail value for amazing games. But no, I will not pay full game price (pre purchase) to beta test games.

Sound like a greedy Dev to me, I am pretty sure that when some one paid the 60 bucks for your game, you have made your money back and then some, if that wasn't the case then how did the gaming market survive for so long? Are these Dev living that far below the poverty line that they feel the need to double dip? Sounds like hes just a little butt hurt now that he can't make money off of something he was never able to do in the first place.

Also people are saying that gamefly and rent-a-centers are taking money from the devs pocket, but unless gamefly has some awesome deal where they can get the games for pennies on the dollar, or they are stealing them, Then they are paying for the game, some where along the line the game has been bought and paid for full price, whether they bought it or someone else did. These devs need to their head out of their greedy a$$e$

Or you could be a giant turd like Cliff Bleszinki and pass the blame to your ISP's and were you live for being at fault rolleyes.gif

Quote:
"You cannot have game and marketing budgets this high while also having used and rental games existing. The numbers do NOT work people," he said.

"The visual fidelity and feature sets we expect from games now come with sky high costs. Assassins Creed games are made by thousands of devs."

"Newsflash. This is why you're seeing free to play and microtransactions everywhere. The disc based day one $60 model is crumbling.

"Those of you telling me 'then just lower game budgets' do understand how silly you sound, right?" said Bleszinski

"If you can afford high speed internet and you can't get it where you live direct your rage at who is responsible for pipe blocking you," he said..

If gamestop is putting a used copy of your game that they bought for $10 on the shelf next to a new copy of your game for $5 less than your new copy so that they can get 100% of the sales money, then no, you aren't getting paid for your games.

That's literally an institutionalised system to cut out the people who made the games from the profits of selling games....

Simple truth is I don't care if it hurts the devs, I like the fact in 3-4 years time I can pickup a used copy of a game for $5 and get a massive collection instead of spending $30+ for it brand new. No game coming out is worth $50+ anymore imho and even spending $30 is a insult for a lot of new titles. They also purposely keep the prices up on old games for people like me to milk us. I prefer cheap and used when I pickup the console in 4 years time to build my collection and enjoy it at a price I deem to be fair.

Greed is the real issue, if in 4 years instead of paying $25-30 for a old title new they charged $5-10 I would be more willing to buy it. They still sell 360 games for $20+ brand new, yet on Ebay I can find them for as low as $5 for older titles. This is why MS wants to dispose of it, they can gouge you and there wont be a single thing you can do about it.

As this article puts is so well, If you wanna prevent your beloved AAA title from the used pile bin, make it a damn better game and not just shovel money and it and make gamers pay the price, BECAUSE WE WONT!!!! mad.gif

If so-called "AAA" games and the used market actually are incompatible, then I say that's a good friggin' thing. Anything to dispossesses publishers of the notion that they need to keep dumping truckloads of cash into games to the point where they need to sell more copies than the laws of reality allow. Despite what demagogues and mouthpieces will tell you, the market is not demanding all its games be so expensive to produce. As I've said before, the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and Wii would not have dominated their respective generations if the market put graphics over everything else. People want good games, not these overproduced, pompous, unsustainable exercises in wanton overspending.

If the game is used, then someone along the line paid full price for it. Wheres the money being lost? Me buying a used game? Like I said if it has been used then it has been paid for in full.

Because Gamestop buys it for minimal amounts of money and puts it next to a brand new copy for $5 less and makes their employees sign documents to say they will encourage gamers to buy used copies over new copies, therefore ensuring that Gamestop gets 100% of the profits........

So somebody who may have been looking for a new copy, will buy a used copy for tiny amount less money and Gamestop will take all the money from that sale.
