I'm a lil' bit confused on this, can promos or other ICs run 500+ with CAS 5 and volts?

If they can, I'm going with promos
No.

Promos are rated at 667mhz and the manufacturers are already pushing them to 800mhz. Some Promos may get as high as 900mhz but that's rare, it can happen though but rare.

I have DDR2 675 which are Promos and they can do DDR2 884mhz easy but not a single mhz more.

PROMOS are not bad but IF overclocking in the 430mhz+ range you're going to? Get a G.Skill HZ or Xtreem RAM, otherwise PROMOS at 800mhz should be enough.

BTW, I tried my PROMOS with 5-5-5-18 with 2.40v and no go for a 1000mhz.

Madmax, PROMOS are decent but other than that, I'm not sure how well the other RAM is, most vendors now are using PROMOS because it's cheaper for them. Of course they sell the RAM cheap as well.

But cheap doesn't necessarily mean bad quality, just not as good as D9s.
