hay all back in decemeber last year (i think it was around that time) I OC my i5 3570k to 4.5 ghz .since the installation i have left it at this speed. i havent cleand my pc since the installation or reaplyd thermal paste.when i first got it i used arctic silver 5.anywaz iv been running metro last light and i notice that my tempratures on coretemp seem high..im wondering if this is safe or not.and if it might be time to clean my pc or reaply more arctic silver 5. the other thing is that my powersupply (corsair hx1000 i have had for almost 2 years .not once have i cleand it or other components besids using a hooverand have never opend it to see how much dust has acumilated i herd doing this is very dangerous. iv seen a few clips on youtube of how to clean a pc with compresd air but alot of the comments say its incorrect way and have not atempted this yet as i am unsure the proper procedure to do it.. anywaz here is the core temp. and if you have any advise for me on the temps or cleaning please reply. thanks.

The temps are safe, nothing to worry about.
What cooler do you have? What are your ambient temps?

It's never a bad idea to clean your system thumb.gif

Be careful with compressed air as sometimes they spit out liquids if you hold it at a certain angle. Power off your system and unplug it and just be cautious.

What are your temps like at 100% load? With IBT or P95?

edit: you listed vid, ideally you need to list vcore.
also saw you are using a h100 - ivy bridge runs hot, but your temps do seem high for being game load temps, yet still perfectly safe.

The temps are on the high side but are perfectly safe. Your computer is going to lock up and shut down before you do any permanent damage to it from heat.

ok i think the ambient temps are around 22c. cpu z shows my core vid flashing from 1.228 -1.230 i dont reely want to run prime95 since i allready ran it for an 8 hour period when i first did the overclock and since then my pc has not had any problems or crashes. but since the temps are high is this a sign that my cooler is failing or just meening i need to clean it properly and if so would the main problem be with the h100 or the psu?
well, depending on how dusty it gets where you live etc and not having cleaned it since december, i think you should first try and clean it.

you might find thick layers of dust between fans and your rad.

if thats not the case, still give it a good clean. next i would try to seat the block again with new paste, perhaps mx4 or something like that.

i dont think it means your psu is bad, and if the problem was with the h100, i think it would be getting a lot hotter a lot faster.

i believe the h100 has 3 settings on the block for the fan speed - which one have you set it at?

hope that helps a little bit

the setting is on maximum with the h100. so with comprest air all i do is spray the inside of my computer and the back of the psu? and i still have silver 5 thermal paste to reaply but is there a major advantage using this mx5 stuff insted?what is the dif. thanks
post #7 of 9
with the compressed air, i would dismount the fans from the radiator of the h100, then give the fans a good clean and also any debris or dust you might see on the actual radiator of the h100.

mx4 spreads really easily and it has no curing time unlike as5. if i am not wrong i believe it transfers heat a bit better as well.

but if you are not able to get any, then as5 will still be alright.

hey guys i got around to opening my pc up but i was unable to detach the h100 from the case. so the best i could do was spray air in the fan area. i dunno if it was the can or not but the dust dident seem to move that muc so in the end i got rid of it better with a few paint brushes and a hoover. but Beacuse i could not unmount the fans i did not see the full rad or how much build up of dust there reely was i then removed the block and removed the thermal paste with Q-tips and white spirit and applyd some more arctic silver 5 ( its all i have still) my temps seem more or les the same. it is very hot were i am right now sine its summer so maybe that has somthing to do with it. not sure what to do now.
